This roof
terrace deck was constructed using Garrapa hardwood.
This is a relatively new species of deck-board, sourced
from South America and Greater London Decking is one of
the first deck building companies in the UK to use it.
It offers all the qualities and durability of a
hard-wood but can be more cost effective than species
such as Ipe. At first, Garrapa is quite a bright yellow
colour which doesn’t suit every project or client.
However, this can be left to fade down or it can be
sealed to retain the original bright yellow appearance.

The company who own this building has many offices and meeting rooms but until now there has been no communal space to entertain large numbers of people.
The new roof terrace is a perfect spot for this and the planned outdoor furniture and plants will provide a great escape from the manic streets of Shoreditch.

Getting materials and tools to this deck was far from
easy – no crane access and 104 steps to climb. There was
no complaining though, and in under a week the job was
done and the client very impressed – as always.
A good way to finish the edges of an unusually shaped deck
like this one is to install a feature border around the
perimeter. It is just one of the many professional
touches you will get when you deal with Greater London
Decking.
What a great
spot for to take in the Central London skyline!
