Planters in Decking. Hardwood Deck with Planters.

Nicely rendered planter boxes compliment the hardwood deck.If this deck been just one level the client would have been overlooking the neighbours - a common problem in many London back gardens. With some clever design work the two decks flow nicely into the garden to give plenty of private outdoor space. The herbs that are planted in the custom made timber planters, are easily accessible from the kitchen. We even fitted a large water tank beneath the upper deck to collect rainwater to store for those dry London summers that we can apparently get!

Don't forget your planting scheme after the deck is finished. Bear it in mind before the deck is started. As you can see, the plants really soften the deck outline.

This high specification decking project is constructed using 90mm Ipe hardwood, secured to the sub deck frame with stainless steel screws to give a more ‘industrial’ finish. The sides of the planter boxes can be rendered or clad with a matching deck-board.

The lush foliage around the deck, enhances the whole project.

Hardwood decks are not the least expensive form of decking. Needless to say, it needs a decking professional to do justice to the material.
