London Redwood decking scheme. 'Redwood' is nothing to do with the colour aspect - it is to do with quality. Redwood timber normally comes from the true Pine Tree Pinus sylvestris, whereas Whitewood timber is cut from Norway Spruce - the Christmas tree - or Abies. Redwood decking is not always red - it can be pale grey. To a large extent the colour of the timber is dependent upon type of  preservative used in the treatment process.
