Strategically situated
decking lights can add a real 'wow' factor to any deck. The Greater
London Decking team are well placed to advise their clients on a
wide range of decking lights and their placement. Similarly we are
able to leave our clients with a sample light during construction of
the deck and you can make lighting decisions accordingly that night.
We usually use a sealed unit LED up-lighters which are seen here in
the photo. These should never blow, and hardly use any electricity.
They can be walked on and come in various colours. One of the most
popular places on a deck to put these lights is below a feature
plant or tree, this lights up the underneath of the leaves and looks
amazing!
This Ipe Hardwood deck has decking lights and stainless steel screws
to give a more industrial look.
Bear in mind that with floor mounted deck lights, there is a glare factor to take into account. They are ideal for highlighting the edge of a deck. or for up-lighting into a good plant or tree. They are not so good situated near your seating area, where they can cause discomfort with the glare. They are -up-lighters. They are not for generally illuminating a deck. You need lights shining 'down' onto the deck if you are needing to have light on the deck.
