This large roof terrace deck was constructed using Yellow Balau Hardwood. It is an outstanding addition to brand new offices and provides the workers with a fantastic spot to grab some fresh air. The area will also be used for corporate entertainment parties.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In recent times, many commercial roofs have been built using a single ply membrane which is fantastic for weatherproofing and outlasts traditional methods such as asphalt. However, the downfall is that the membrane can be damaged by additional structures such as an incorrect decking system. Big jobs require big gear. We don’t mind carrying deck-board upstairs occasionally, but when there are 1700 linear meters, weighing about 10 tonnes, a heavy lifting crane is easier. We were lucky on this job that there was easy access for such machinery. Some jobs (especially in Central London) give no such offering and carrying by hand is the only way –we don’t complain though and it certainly keeps the boys in shape!
